Tom West, PhD, RQAP-GCP

Tom has over 26 years of clinical research experience; he started his career in 1992 at the Douglas Hospital Research Center (Verdun, Quebec) where he coordinated over 15 phase II to IV psychiatric trials (depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, social phobia, panic disorder, GAD) and co-authored several journal articles and a book chapter.

In 1997, Tom joined INNOVUS and held positions of increasing responsibility in Clinical Research and Quality Assurance. He played a key role growing the Clinical Research group to a staff over 20 research professionals and has direct experience managing complex international trials as well as large (300+ Investigators) and smaller local phase III and IV trials. While at Innovus, he spent five years building the Quality Assurance department and spearheaded the design and implementation of computerized systems to centrally-maintain employee-training records and standard operating procedures. Tom is a Registered Quality Assurance Professional (RQAP) in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and has conducted internal and external audits and trained staff on clinical trial regulations and GCP.

Tom holds a doctoral degree in psychology (behavioral neurobiology) from Concordia University (Montreal, Québec) as well as a master's degree in experimental psychology and a graduate diploma in administration. He is actively involved in the Society of Quality Assurance and has been a standing member of the RQAP GCP examination committee.

Tom promotes an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork with a critical focus on customer-oriented service and believes in leadership through mutual respect and collaboration.

Cathy Kern RN, BA, CCRA

Cathy has over 20 years of clinical research experience in Phase II, III, IV, Device and Expanded Access Program studies. She over 10 years of trial management experience in multiple therapeutic areas including Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Neurology and Women's Health studies. This was preceded by 4 years of clinical monitoring experience monitoring in Cardiology, Oncology (Breast), Psychiatry, Rheumatology, Ophthalmology and Neurology trials.

Cathy's experience also includes 5 years as a Cardiology Clinical Research Coordinator participating in Acute Coronary Syndrome, Myocardial Infarction, Atrial Fibrillation, Coronary Artery Disease, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia and Congestive Heart Failure trials. Prior to entering the clinical research world, Cathy worked for 17 years as a Critical Care Registered Nurse in Emergency, ICU, CCU, PACU and Day Surgery units.

Cathy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies, is a Registered Nurse in the province on Ontario since 1977, Certification as a Coronary Care RN in 1985, Certification as a Clinical Research Coordinator in 1999 and Clinical Research Associate in 2002.
